Steelers Bring Back Mason Rudolph
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers have reached an agreement with quarterback Mason Rudolph for a two-year deal, marking his return to the franchise after a season with the Tennessee Titans, sources confirmed.
The move comes as the Steelers look to solidify their quarterback position while awaiting news from Aaron Rodgers about his future. With this signing, Rudolph offers a veteran presence and starting experience to a team in need.
Before rejoining the Steelers, Rudolph played last season as a backup to Titans’ quarterback Will Levis. His performance included starting five games, generating a record of 1-4 while completing 63.7% of his passes for 1,530 yards, alongside nine touchdowns and nine interceptions.
Rudolph, a third-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, previously started 14 games during his time with Pittsburgh, which included one playoff appearance. He reflects a reliable choice, having transitioned from backup roles to starting quarterback amidst critical times in the Steelers’ recent history.
This latest contract, reported to be worth $8 million, includes $4.5 million guaranteed, and positions Rudolph to either compete for the starting role or serve as a backup, depending on the outcomes of the Steelers’ ongoing quarterback evaluations.
As the Steelers navigate through roster changes, Rudolph’s familiarity with the team’s system adds an element of experience to their lineup. NFL fans will be keen to watch how this decision impacts the Steelers as they look ahead to the upcoming season.
