Consumers are urged to check their refrigerators and freezers as a significant meat recall has been initiated due to potential listeria contamination. This recall impacts hundreds of ready-to-eat meals available in major grocery chains across the United States, such as Walmart, Trader Joe’s, and Target.
On Friday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) updated the list of affected products, which includes well-known brand names like Dole, Taylor Farms, Great Value, and Michelina’s.
BrucePac, the company behind the recall, is removing over 9.9 million pounds of pre-cooked meat and poultry items produced between June 19, 2024, and October 8, 2024.
Inspection agencies detected Listeria monocytogenes during routine testing, leading to the identification of BrucePac’s ready-to-eat chicken as the source of the contamination.
Affected products reached consumers through distributors who supplied restaurants and food service providers, including a variety of items from frozen dinners and pre-made salads.
Other retailers affected by the recall include 7-Eleven, Albertson’s, Aldi, Amazon Fresh, H-E-B, Kroger, Meijer, Publix, and Save Mart.

While no illnesses have been reported in relation to this recall, the USDA cautions that listeria can pose severe risks, particularly for vulnerable populations such as seniors, pregnant individuals, and those with compromised immune systems.
Individuals in high-risk groups who feel flu-like symptoms within two months of consuming contaminated foods should seek medical assistance.
