A tragic incident occurred on Saturday evening when the Mexican navy training vessel, ARM Cuauhtémoc, collided with the Brooklyn Bridge, resulting in the deaths of two crew members and injuries to 19 others. The ship, serving as a goodwill vessel promoting Mexican culture, was navigating the East River when it experienced a mechanical failure that caused it to lose control, according to early reports from authorities.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum expressed her condolences, stating, ‘It was an accident, there are two people dead, and what we have to do is express solidarity and wait a bit to see what the causes were.’ She also assured that Mexican and U.S. officials are closely collaborating in their investigation.
