Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are preparing to face their final haunting as they reprise their roles in the concluding chapter of the ‘Conjuring’ series, titled ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’. Warner Bros. released the official trailer on May 9, offering a chilling preview of the couple’s last case, which hints at potential tragedy.
The trailer kicks off with Ed Warren cautioning ‘Don’t touch anything’ as he enters their infamous artifact room, home to haunted objects including the infamous Annabelle doll. As the narrative unfolds, Ed and Lorraine Warren reflect on their extensive career—handling thousands of cases, each unique and challenging. Lorraine senses that something is profoundly different in this last investigation.
The trailer features suspenseful jump scares and scenes of exorcisms culminating with Ed performing one and Lorraine confronting an ominous supernatural force that ominously states, ‘We’ve been waiting so patiently for you.’ The film promises to reveal why this was their final case.
Joining Farmiga and Wilson are newcomers Ben Hardy and Mia Tomlinson. The franchise, which includes three previous films—’The Conjuring’ (2013), ‘The Conjuring 2’ (2016), and ‘The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It’ (2021)—is inspired by real-life paranormal investigations by the Warrens.
The ‘Conjuring’ series has been remarkably successful, grossing over $2 billion globally and spawning several spin-offs like ‘The Nun’, ‘Annabelle’, and ‘The Curse of La Llorona’. ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ is slated to hit Philippine cinemas on September 3. Fans of supernatural horror will surely be eager to see how the Warrens’ story concludes.
