Fans at Comerica Park

The 2025 MLB season has commenced, and the Detroit Tigers are ready to celebrate their home opener on the afternoon of April 5, 2025. Following a demanding road trip on the West Coast, the Tigers are slated to face the Chicago White Sox at the revamped Comerica Park.

The Tigers, with a record of 2-4, started their season with three losses against the Los Angeles Dodgers but managed to secure two victories against the Seattle Mariners. However, the trip concluded with a narrow 3-2 defeat, partially attributed to a key error by second baseman Colt Keith.

This home opener features seasoned pitcher Jack Flaherty, boasting a 3.18 ERA, taking the mound for the Tigers. Flaherty acquires the starting position after rejoining the Tigers, having previously played a pivotal role in helping the Dodgers win the World Series last year.

On the opposing side, the Chicago White Sox will present second-year right-hander Jonathan Cannon, who impressed in his debut by throwing five shutout innings against the Angels.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. and can be viewed live on FanDuel Sports Network Detroit as well as through a streaming option on Fubo, which offers a free trial for new users.

Fans are already flocking to Comerica Park, where pregame festivities include live music and tailgating, enhancing the celebratory atmosphere. One of the changes fans will notice this season is the removal of the dirt strip between home plate and the pitcher’s mound, a unique feature of Comerica Park since its opening.

As the atmosphere buzzes with excitement, fans look forward to not just a game, but a day filled with tradition, community, and baseball.
