The highly anticipated third season of HBO’s acclaimed series The White Lotus is set to return, shifting its picturesque setting from Hawaii and Sicily to beautiful Thailand. Scheduled to premiere on February 16, 2025, the new season will introduce a fresh group of guests and staff amidst the backdrop of luxurious resorts that the series is famous for.

From the Hawaii Spa to Thailand

After captivating audiences with its earlier seasons located in Hawaii and Sicily, The White Lotus brings back beloved character Belinda Lindsey, played by Natasha Rothwell. Rothwell expressed her excitement about returning, stating, ‘When [creator] Mike White was finishing up season two, he asked to grab dinner with me. I thought nothing of it. But he was already thinking about season three and wanting to explore her more.’

A Star-Studded Cast

Joining Rothwell in the new season is a constellation of stars including Parker Posey, Michelle Monaghan, and Jason Isaacs, among others. The addition of BLACKPINK’s Lisa as a resort employee has also generated significant buzz.

Setting the Scene

This season will feature filming locations in and around Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok. The Tourism Authority of Thailand supports the filming, emphasizing the cultural richness and hospitality that Thailand offers. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, commented, ‘The kingdom’s exotic natural beauty… are the perfect settings to share our fascinating culture.’

What to Expect

Mike White, the series creator, hinted at a comedic exploration of themes surrounding death and Eastern spirituality in this new season. He remarked, ‘I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality.’

The Future of the Franchise

As excitement builds for the third installment, there are discussions about a potential fourth season. Casey Bloys, HBO chairman, stated, ‘If he [Mike White] wants to move forward, we will do the fourth season of course.’
