Steve Guttenberg Speaks Out on Southern California Wildfires

Steve Guttenberg Urges Community Unity Amid Southern California Wildfires

Actor Steve Guttenberg, known for his role in the “Police Academy” series, recently addressed the catastrophic wildfires sweeping through Southern California, specifically in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles County. He described the experience as possibly the ‘biggest fire’ he has ever witnessed and referred to the situation as an ‘unbelievable tragedy.’

During his appearance on “GMA3,” Guttenberg urged individuals with the courage to support those affected by the fires. He called upon ‘brave’ citizens to help an array of vulnerable individuals, including those in wheelchairs and families facing panic.

‘There are people in wheelchairs. There are older people. There are babies,’ Guttenberg emphasized. ‘We should take this feeling that we want to help people and we want to make the world a better place.’

The wildfires have forced more than 30,000 residents to evacuate their homes in Los Angeles County, with California Governor Gavin Newsom declaring a state of emergency. As the Santa Ana winds intensify the fire, emergency crews are becoming overwhelmed with the scale of the disaster.

Guttenberg described the winds as ‘devil winds’ that have transformed local hills to appear ‘like a volcano.’ He expressed admiration for the firefighters and first responders combating the flames, which he termed ‘the biggest horror’ one could ever imagine.

The Role of Community Support

In the face of such adversity, Guttenberg believes that disasters serve as a ‘great equalizer,’ stating that it does not matter one’s wealth or status during a crisis—everyone faces the same dangers.

While discussing his own involvement, he highlighted the critical role of community assistance. ‘One of the biggest things that everybody needs right now is to be comforted,’ he noted.

With lives at stake, Guttenberg continues to rally support for those affected, encouraging individuals to stay calm and assist those who may struggle to evacuate safely.
