Severe Thunderstorm and Tornado Warnings Across the Midwest

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings are currently impacting areas across the Midwest, particularly focusing on Indiana and Michigan. The National Weather Service has been actively monitoring conditions and issuing updates for the public.
Updates from March 30, 2025:
- 6:45 PM: Tornado Watch remains in effect for Adams, Blackford, Grant, and Jay counties. Paulding and Van Wert Counties are under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 10 PM.
- Reported damage: A tree has fallen on a house near Long Lake in Steuben County, along with multiple downed powerlines reported in the area.
- Tree damage reported: Numerous instances of downed trees are noted in Whitley County and locations in Wabash County have reported semi-trucks being tipped over due to high winds.
- 6:08 PM: All tornado warnings have expired, with the Tornado Watch canceled for Whitley, Noble, Kosciusko, and Wabash counties.
- 5:14 PM: A new Tornado Warning was issued for Noble, DeKalb, LaGrange, and Steuben counties.
- 5:08 PM: Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for all counties in Northern Indiana, citing potential wind gusts up to 70 mph and hail reaching quarter-sized dimensions.
In addition, East Lansing, Michigan has been under a tornado warning that extends until 7:15 PM for Ingham County and the Michigan State University campus due to severe thunderstorm conditions with destructive wind warnings of up to 80 mph.
