Search for Missing University of Pittsburgh Student Sudiksha Konanki
March 10, 2025 – Sudiksha Konanki, a 20-year-old student from the University of Pittsburgh, has been missing since March 6 after last being seen at a beach in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Her father, Subbarayudu Konanki, has spoken publicly about the distressing situation, confirming that his daughter was on spring break ahead of her pre-med studies.
Details of the Disappearance
According to reports, Sudiksha went to the beach early in the morning around 4 a.m. with friends and some acquaintances she met at the resort.
“She went to the beach on March 6 early morning around 4 a.m. with friends and some other guys they met at the resort. After that, her friends came back after some time, and my daughter did not come back from the beach,” said her father.
Search Efforts Underway
When Sudiksha’s friends did not find her in her room the next morning, they alerted local authorities. An extensive search was launched, including land and sea operations.
“So far, the authorities, multiple authorities here in the Dominican Republic have searched in the waters. They searched using helicopters and other tools. They also searched in the nearby bay, bushes, and trees. They went multiple times around the same areas,” Subbarayudu added.
Participants in the search include the Dominican Civil Defense, local firefighters, Navy, National Police, and tourist police. The Indian embassy is collaborating with local officials as well.
University’s Response
The University of Pittsburgh has issued a statement expressing their concern and support for Sudiksha’s family. They are in constant contact with her family and local authorities.
“University officials are in contact with Sudiksha Konanki’s family as well as authorities in Loudoun County, Virginia, and we have offered our full support in their efforts to find her and bring her home safely,” said a university spokesperson.

A missing persons poster has been circulated with detailed descriptions including Sudiksha’s appearance. She is described as 5 feet 3 inches tall, with brown eyes and black hair.
