Quinn Ewers Hints at NFL Future Amid Cotton Bowl Disappointment

As the 2025 NFL Draft draws closer, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers hinted at potential plans to enter the draft while navigating an inconsistent college football season.

In a recent interview before the Cotton Bowl, Ewers addressed questions about his future. When asked if he expected to continue playing college football next year, he stated, No, I don’t.

Despite his impressive accomplishments, Ewers has faced challenges this season, including a decline in passing yards and increased interceptions compared to last year. It’s safe to say Ewers hasn’t had the season he expected, a sports analyst remarked.

Competing against the Ohio State Buckeyes, Ewers and the Longhorns faced off in the Cotton Bowl Classic. Although the game concluded in a 28-14 loss for Texas, Ewers performed commendably during the season, throwing for nearly 300 fewer yards than the previous year but reaching 29 touchdowns overall.

Injury struggles and competition
Ewers endured injuries throughout the season, leading to increased playing time for fellow teammate Arch Manning, who has showcased his dual-threat capabilities as a runner.

As speculation about Ewers’ future grew, reports emerged indicating a $6 million NIL offer from another school, adding pressure on the Texas quarterback to reconsider his options.

Despite these pressures, Ewers emphasized the importance of focusing on his teammates. He said, You know, I think that’s selfish of me to be able to be thinking about it. I owe my teammates the best version of me right now.

The 21-year-old playmaker remains poised to lead his team as they strive for their first title since 2006, despite challenges faced over the summer, including losses in key semifinal playoffs.

Looking Ahead
As the Longhorns regroup from their Cotton Bowl defeat and Ewers continues to evaluate his choices, fans and analysts alike eagerly anticipate his next moves, both in college football and potentially in the NFL.

Stay tuned as these developments unfold in the weeks to come.
