Girl Scout Cookie Season Set for Changes in 2025
Fans of Girl Scouts cookies are being advised to stock up this year, albeit at a higher price. The Girl Scouts of the USA officially announced on Tuesday that they will be discontinuing two popular flavors: s’mores and Toast-Yay, beginning in 2026.
The price of cookies sold by Nassau County Girl Scouts will see an increase from $5 to $7. This marks the first price hike in five years, noted a representative from the local organization. Meanwhile, inquiries directed to the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County went unanswered.
This announcement coincides with the kickoff of the national 2025 Girl Scout Cookie season, as indicated by the organization.
During this cookie season, fans of s’mores and Toast-Yays can still purchase these flavors until the season concludes around April, according to the organization’s official website. The reasoning behind the discontinuation of these specific lines remains unclear as the Girl Scouts national organization has not responded to inquiries.
Wendy Lou, the Chief Revenue Officer of GSUSA, remarked, ‘Girl Scout Cookie season is about so much more than selling the iconic cookies people know and love. The funds girls earn throughout the season directly power girls’ journeys in leadership, entrepreneurship, and community building. The sweet success of each sale is a testament to how much girls can change the world when they put their minds to it.’
The lineup for the 2025 season includes beloved flavors such as Thin Mints, Samoas/Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties/Tagalongs, Adventurefuls, and more.
Cassie Colgan, senior director of marketing and communications for Girl Scouts of Nassau County, explained that the price increase is a result of ‘rising costs for ingredients, production, and the overall operation of the Girl Scout Cookie Program.’
Last year, Nassau scouts sold an impressive 1.1 million packages of cookies, with the average scout selling approximately 130 packages each. Cookies will be available for purchase from participating Girl Scouts at cookie booths or through online orders starting February 21.
Notably, the 2023 cookie drive gained national attention when a shortage of Raspberry Rally cookies led to significant price hikes in the resale market, reaching as high as $110 on platforms like eBay. Following this trend, the Raspberry Rally will not be available in this year’s lineup, according to Colgan.
