MINNEAPOLIS, MN – The Minnesota Vikings honored legendary wide receiver Randy Moss during their Monday Night Football matchup against the Chicago Bears, responding to recent news of his battle with cancer. Moss, who has been a significant figure in NFL history, recently revealed on social media that he underwent a Whipple procedure to address bile duct cancer.

Before the game, former Vikings stars Cris Carter and Jake Reed made a heartfelt appearance at the pregame coin toss, holding up a Vikings jersey featuring Moss’ number 84. The crowd erupted in chants of ‘Ran-dy, Ran-dy,’ showcasing their unwavering support for the legendary player. Reed and Carter stood together, embodying the camaraderie that Moss created during his time with the team.

As the game progressed, current Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson celebrated a first-quarter touchdown by directing a heartfelt message towards the camera, shouting, ‘We love you Randy! That’s for you!’ His tribute resonated with the fans, further emphasizing the community’s unwavering support for Moss.

Moss expressed his gratitude towards the football community through social media, stating, ‘LUV U ALL! #letsmosscancer’. Meanwhile, he has taken a temporary leave from his role as an ESPN broadcaster to focus on his recovery. Dr. David Feldshon, a gastroenterology specialist, noted the challenges associated with bile duct cancer and emphasized the importance of early diagnosis. He stated, ‘These cancers are frequently not diagnosed early, because they don’t present until they’re more advanced.’

Moss’ emotional battle with cancer has sparked support from many former teammates, including Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell, who remarked, ‘Hopefully, he knows we’re with him every step of the way and have nothing but love for Randy Moss.’

In addition, Adam Thielen, a wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers and former Vikings star, wore a Moss jersey during warmups prior to their game against the Dallas Cowboys, reinforcing the unity within the football community. Thielen remarked, ‘Randy is the reason I wanted to play football.’

As he continues his fight against cancer, Moss remains an inspiration to fans and players alike, embodying resilience and determination during challenging times.
