NFL Christmas Gameday Set to Shine

This Christmas Day, the NFL is set to enthrall fans with a brand new tradition, broadcasting its exciting matchups live on Netflix. The lineup promises a star-studded cast of hosts, celebrating the holiday with exhilarating football action.
Among the matchups, the Kansas City Chiefs will face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers, followed by the Baltimore Ravens taking on the Houston Texans. The Chiefs and Steelers game is set for 1 p.m. Eastern Time, while the Ravens and Texans will kick off at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
The Christmas special will feature an array of award-winning commentators, ready to elevate the viewing experience with insightful analysis and commentary leading up to the games and through to the final whistle.

Pregame Extravaganza Begins

The festivities will begin with a live pregame show starting at 11 a.m. Eastern Time, broadcasting from NFL Network studios in Los Angeles and Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh. Featured hosts from Los Angeles include Kay Adams, Drew Brees, Robert Griffin III, Manti Te’o, and Mina Kimes. At the Pittsburgh site, Laura Rutledge, Devin McCourty, and Jason McCourty will add their expertise.
Comedian Bert Kreischer will serve as a tailgate correspondent, bringing additional entertainment to the program. Fans can also look forward to commentary from comedian Nate Bargatze.

On-Air Commentators for Key Matchups

As the action heats up, NFL fans will hear from Ian Eagle, Nate Burleson, and JJ Watt during the Chiefs vs. Steelers game. Eagle will provide play-by-play commentary, while Burleson and Watt will offer expert insights into the unfolding drama of the matchup.
JJ Watt remarked, ‘There are two phenomenal matchups. The Chiefs and Steelers are both near the top of the AFC — it will be an old-school battle, hopefully with a bit of snow. Just a perfect Christmas Day game.’
For the second showdown between the Ravens and Texans, Noah Eagle and Greg Olsen will handle play-by-play commentary, with Jamie Erdahl and Steve Wyche covering the sidelines.
Noah Eagle noted, ‘Aside from Beyoncé, this is an outstanding quarterback matchup. C.J. Stroud of the Texans faces off against last year’s MVP, Lamar Jackson of the Ravens.’

Fan Expectations and Concerns

While many are excited for this new venture, some fans express concerns stemming from Netflix’s handling of live events. Previous streaming issues during significant matches have prompted unease regarding broadcast reliability. Nevertheless, NFL executives have expressed optimism about this partnership, stating, ‘We couldn’t be more excited to bring live games to fans around the world.’
Fans can catch both games live on Netflix, with local broadcasts also available on CBS affiliates. For those unable to access the platform, NFL+ app users can stream the games as well.
The NFL Christmas Gameday event signifies an exciting leap for sports broadcasting, combining the festive spirit of Christmas with thrilling football action, ensuring the holidays will be filled with unforgettable moments for fans around the globe.
