On Sunday night, Washington Commanders’ safety Jeremy Reaves enjoyed a momentous evening as his team secured their first playoff berth since 2020 with a thrilling 30-24 overtime victory against the Atlanta Falcons. Amid the excitement of the win, he popped the question to his longtime girlfriend, Mikaela Worley, who joyfully accepted his proposal on the field at Northwest Stadium.

Reaves expressed his delight after the game, stating, ‘I hate losing, so there’s no way I could have done that in the right spirit after a loss. That thing was burning a hole in my pocket.’ He had originally planned to propose the previous week, but decided the celebration of victory was the perfect timing.

Mikaela Worley, a 26-year-old graduate of the University of Louisiana-Monroe, has been a constant support for Reaves, especially during his recovery from surgery last year for a torn ACL. Their supportive bond has been evident throughout the ups and downs of Reaves’ football career.

Reaves, who signed with the Commanders in 2018 as an undrafted free agent, has risen to prominence in the NFL, earning Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors. His journey from a two-game rookie season to an impact player has been highlighted by hard work and determination. Worley has been by his side through it all, attending games and cheering him on at every opportunity.

‘If we win this game, it’s destiny. She’s earned it. I can’t say enough about her. When I was at my lowest last year, she was there to pick me up every day. She showed up. That’s my best friend. Been my best friend since high school,’ said Reaves, emphasizing the depth of their relationship.

The Commanders will finish the regular season on January 5 against the Dallas Cowboys, before heading into the playoffs, where hopes are high with the momentum of Reaves’ recent victory and personal milestone.
