Earth Day Community Event

On April 22, 2025, CODEPINK Bay Area invites the community to join them at the “Mother Farm” run by Planting Justice in El Sobrante, California. Participants are encouraged to roll up their sleeves for a day of farm chores, including weeding and mulching. This hands-on experience highlights the importance of sustainable farming and community connection.

During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to connect with CODEPINK’s Kelly Curry and take a guided tour of the farm led by Planting Justice co-founder Haleh Zandi. Zandi shared, ‘I would love to join the CODEPINK group to connect about our local peace economy.’ Curry also noted that Zandi has been a supporter of CODEPINK since her teenage years.

Planting Justice focuses on providing sustainable living-wage jobs, improving food access, and offering holistic programs for communities affected by mass incarceration. The Mother Farm serves as an agroforestry sanctuary that emphasizes sustainable design and grows plants for their nursery in Oakland.

Participants should come prepared to get their hands dirty while enjoying the fresh air and camaraderie. The event is set to run from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. Exact location details will be communicated upon RSVP.

For those planning to attend, it is recommended to wear pink attire in keeping with CODEPINK’s signature color and to embrace the spirit of community engagement!

Contact information for RSVP and inquiries is available through Cynthia at 510-365-1500.
