Columbus Family Heads to NYC for Thanksgiving Parade
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — This year, the Blankenship family from Columbus has decided to break from tradition by traveling to New York City to witness the iconic 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. ‘We’ve been planning it for a while and decided to do something different rather than stay home for the holidays,’ the family shared.
They are joining an estimated 3 million Ohioans who are expected to travel this Thanksgiving. Surprisingly, despite concerns regarding holiday travel chaos, the family found the airport lines to be manageable. ‘The lines don’t look bad. We got here earlier than the flight. We were expecting more people, and it’s not bad,’ they commented.
Other travelers at the airport were opting for warmer destinations. A group traveling to Orlando and then the Bahamas for the holiday exclaimed, ‘Forget the cold. We’re headed to warmer weather.’
Before departing, they encouraged fellow travelers to embrace new experiences: ‘Travel, get out, do new things, don’t be scared, and create new traditions. It’s life, and you only have one to live.’
