Celtics Achieve Record-Breaking Victory Against Clippers
The Boston Celtics delivered a remarkable performance on Monday night, defeating the Los Angeles Clippers 126-94. This victory marked their sixth consecutive win as they tied an NBA record by sinking 12 three-pointers during a single quarter.
Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum spearheaded the offensive onslaught in the second quarter, with Brown scoring 13 points and Tatum adding 12. Overall, the Celtics made 22 of 51 attempts from beyond the arc, achieving an impressive shooting percentage of 43.1.
In a noteworthy setback for the team, Kristaps Porzingis made his season debut. After recovering from offseason foot surgery, Porzingis scored 16 points in just 23 minutes of play, alongside six rebounds and two blocks.
Tatum led the game with a total of 20 points, complemented by nine rebounds, four assists, and two blocks. Payton Pritchard also had an impressive performance off the bench, contributing 20 points, largely due to his significant three-point shooting.
Despite the loss, the Clippers had strong individual performances, notably from Ivica Zubac, who amassed 23 points and 10 rebounds. James Harden added 19 points, while Derrick Jones Jr. chipped in with 11.
The game saw the Clippers fail to maintain their previous defensive success, as this was the first instance in five games that they allowed an opponent to exceed 100 points.
Boston’s dominance was clear as they led 27-20 after the first quarter and expanded their lead to 78-49 by halftime, shooting a staggering 47.1% from three-point range in the first half.
Although the Clippers attempted a comeback with a 10-0 run at the start of the third quarter, the Celtics maintained control to secure their victory as they continued their impressive winning streak.
