Bluey Takes a Leap to The Big Screen

NEW YORK (AP) — The popular Australian animated series “Bluey” is set to head to theaters in 2027, with an announcement made by the Walt Disney Co. and BBC Studios.

The film, which will be both written and directed by the show’s creator, Joe Brumm, is poised to continue the charming adventures of Bluey, a joyful blue heeler dog living with her family, including her mum, dad, and little sister, Bingo.

Brumm expressed his excitement, stating, ‘I’ve always thought “Bluey” deserved a theatrical movie. I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together.’

Since its debut in 2018, Bluey has captivated audiences worldwide and was recognized as the most-watched series globally on Disney+ in 2024. ‘Since its debut on Disney Jr. and Disney+, Bluey has become a global phenomenon, uniting families everywhere with its heartfelt stories of play, imagination, and connection,’ noted Dana Walden and Alan Bergman, co-chairs of Disney Entertainment.

As preparation for the theatrical release takes shape, fans eagerly await more details about the film’s plot and character development.
