NEW YORK— After nearly a month of rest, the Boston College Eagles, finishing the season with a 7-5 record and 4-4 in the ACC, are set to compete against the Nebraska Cornhuskers, who concluded their regular season at 6-6 and 3-6 in the Big Ten, this Saturday afternoon in the 2024 Pinstripe Bowl held at Yankee Stadium.
Both teams aspire to achieve significant program milestones with a win. Boston College is aiming to secure eight victories in a single season for the first time since 2009. Meanwhile, Nebraska is striving for a winning record for the first time since 2016.
Throughout the 2024 season, the teams had similar trajectories. The Cornhuskers began strong with a 5-1 record over the initial six games, featuring victories over UTEP, No. 23 Colorado, Purdue, and Rutgers, along with a narrow loss to No. 20 Illinois. However, they ended the season poorly, losing five of their last six games, only managing to secure a win against Wisconsin in that span.
Conversely, Boston College had a solid start with a 4-1 record; their only defeat during that period was against No. 19 Missouri. They faced a tough middle of the season, where they lost three consecutive games and went winless in October against Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Louisville. Nonetheless, they rallied at the end of the season by winning three of their last four matches against Syracuse, North Carolina, and Pitt, finishing strong with a total of seven wins in the regular season for the first time since 2018.
This represents the Eagles’ third participation in the Pinstripe Bowl over the past decade, following losses in 2014 against Penn State and in 2017 against Iowa.
