Canton House Fire Claims Six Cats

Canton House Fire Claims Six Cats, Investigation Underway

A house fire in Canton, Ohio, early Thursday morning resulted in the tragic loss of six cats. The incident occurred at approximately 2:10 a.m. in a home located on the 1600 block of Aleden Avenue Southwest.

According to a press release from the Canton Fire Department, crews arrived at the scene to find the house heavily engulfed in flames. Fortunately, a woman who was inside the home at the time was able to evacuate safely before the fire department arrived.

Fire crews faced challenges while battling the blaze, citing “structural compromise” that prevented them from entering the home to fight the fire from inside. Sadly, the fire resulted in the loss of six cats, though no other injuries were reported among human occupants.

Nearby homes were protected during the firefighting efforts, which managed to contain the flames to the structure of the home where the fire began. The affected house has been declared a total loss, and an investigation into the fire’s cause is currently underway.

This unfortunate event serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety in our homes.
