Born on March 30, 1933, in Milwaukee, WI, she was the daughter of Alice and Herbert Weltzien. After her father’s passing shortly after her birth, her mother married Bernard Buster when Sharon was five. She attended Fernwood School and briefly Bay View High School before her family relocated to Wauwatosa. After the death of her stepfather in 1950, she graduated from Wauwatosa High School in 1951.
Sharon went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in home economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1954. During her college years, she joined the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Shortly after, she married Lawrence “Ike” Davis, a fellow UW student.
In 1957, the couple moved to Oconomowoc, WI, where Sharon balanced raising six children with supporting her husband’s veterinary practice. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family, as she enjoyed managing a busy homestead filled with various pets and animals.
A devoted Catholic, Sharon dedicated her life to service. She was instrumental in founding the St. Gall’s meal program at St. Jerome’s Parish. Additionally, she participated in the Holy Hill Church, the St. Teresa Parish, and various volunteer activities including the Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Schoolhouse Players, and serving as a reading tutor at St. Joan of Arc School. Her community efforts included organizing Symphony Bus rides for women to attend concerts in Milwaukee.
Sharon was a vivacious personality, known for her love of laughter and festivities. She had a passion for travel, nature, dogs, tennis, music, antiques, art, and history.
She is survived by her children Tom (Barb), Peter (Kathy), Larry (Kathy), Kate (Mike) Kotecki, and Mary (Bernie) Michaud, along with her daughter-in-law Beth (Iley) Davis, 15 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
