Historic Night: Mavericks and Warriors Set New NBA Record for 3-Pointers

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors made history on Sunday night, combining for an incredible total of 48 three-pointers during their game at Chase Center. The Mavericks emerged victorious with a score of 143-133.

The Warriors hit 27 shots from beyond the arc, while the Mavericks contributed 21 to set a new NBA record for the most three-pointers made by both teams in a single game. Mavericks star Luka Doncic was instrumental in the win, achieving a season-high 45 points along with his 80th career triple-double.

“The shot making was at a high level; both teams shot the ball extremely well from three,” Mavericks coach Jason Kidd shared. “It was a fun game to watch, and both teams played at a high level tonight.”

Klay Thompson performed notably well, sinking seven three-pointers against his former team, while Stephen Curry matched him with seven of his own. Doncic showcased his shooting skills by going 6 for 11 from deep.

Alongside Curry’s impressive performance, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins also made significant contributions, each hitting five three-pointers. Despite the Warriors’ efforts, they lost the game, marking the most three-pointers made by a losing team in NBA history.

“I always enjoy playing at Chase Center,” said Thompson. “I’ve made some incredible memories here.”

By reaching 2,549 career three-pointers, Thompson is now just 11 away from tying Reggie Miller for fifth place on the all-time list. The current leader in this category is Stephen Curry with 3,832 made three-pointers.

This historic matchup saw the Mavericks improve their record to 17-9, while the Warriors fell to 14-11. As the season progresses, both teams continue to make headlines in the competitive landscape of the NBA.
