On Monday, December 9th, 2024, it was announced that Rohan Sharma has been named the Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian of the Year for 2024. The competition, which featured hundreds of aspiring comedians, culminated in a lively final held at the iconic London venue.

Sharma is no stranger to the comedy scene, having previously been a finalist in both the 2Northdown New Act and So You Think You’re Funny? competitions. For his winning performance, Sharma utilized a creative slideshow, captivating the audience and judges alike.

The prize for winning the title includes £1,000, along with the traditional quirky trophy, which this year was a fish. Sharma’s unique approach and comedic timing evidently struck a chord with the audience and the panel of industry judges.

In a tightly contested final, the runner-up was Lianna Holston, who earned £500 for her commendable performance. Abbie Edwards secured third place, taking home a prize of £250.

The final took place on the evening of Sunday, December 8th, with a talented collection of finalists hosted by Amy Gledhill. Contestants underwent various heats to secure their places in the final, with a total of 14 acts performing five-minute sets. Other participants in the final included notable comedians such as Tevin Everett, Monica Hsueh, and John Pape, among others.
