Three Killed in Small Plane Crash Near Boca Raton Airport

On April 11, 2025, a small plane tragically went down near Boca Raton Airport, resulting in the deaths of three individuals on board. The incident occurred when the Cessna 310R, carrying three people, experienced mechanical issues shortly after take-off.

The aircraft took off from Boca Raton Airport at around 10:00 am and was headed for Tallahassee. However, approximately 20 minutes into the flight, the plane began circling back, likely due to reported mechanical problems.

Boca Raton Fire Rescue officials stated that the aircraft crashed into a vehicle on North Military Trail at about 10:20 am, pushing the car onto nearby railway tracks. One individual in the car survived but sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Emergency Response

The local police and fire department quickly responded to the scene, where video footage captured smoke and debris scattered along the roadway. Witnesses reported seeing the plane flying at a dangerously low altitude before the crash.

Assistant Chief Michael LaSalle of Boca Raton Fire Rescue confirmed the fatalities and shared details about the injured individual on the ground, indicating that they were transported to a nearby hospital.

Investigation Underway

Authorities have closed North Military Trail between NW 19th St. and Butts Rd. as well as the I-95 overpass, urging the public to avoid the area while they conduct their investigation. The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are leading the inquiry into the cause of the crash.

The victims’ identities have not yet been disclosed, as officials work to inform their families. This incident adds to a series of tragic air-related accidents in recent weeks, highlighting ongoing concerns about aviation safety.
