Lowe’s Closes for 24 Hours to Honor Employees this Easter

Lowe’s stores across the country will be closed for 24 hours on April 20 to allow employees to spend the Easter holiday with their families. The decision, announced by Lowe’s Chairman and CEO Marvin Ellison, is a heartfelt gesture to recognize the hard work and dedication of the company’s 300,000 associates.

‘I’m extremely proud of the commitment of our 300,000 associates who support our communities while providing excellent customer service not only in spring but all year round,’ Ellison said, according to Fox 10 Phoenix. ‘In recognition of our teams’ continued hard work, we are pleased to provide a well-deserved day off so they can spend Easter with their loved ones.’

Store Closure Details

The nationwide closure will begin at 10 PM local time on April 19, with stores reopening at 6 AM local time on April 21. This marks the fourth consecutive year Ellison has made this announcement, emphasizing the company’s commitment to employee well-being.

Lowe’s Tradition Of Holiday Closures

In addition to the Easter closure, Lowe’s has a history of closing its doors on major holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. However, the company remains open on other holidays like New Year’s Day, the Fourth of July, and Memorial Day. As of March 2025, Lowe’s operates 1,751 stores in the United States.

Other high-volume stores, including Costco, Sam’s Club, and Target are also expected to close for the holiday. Ace Hardware will also be closed. The Home Depot is set to remain open on Easter Sunday.
