Meet Jay Jay: The Adorable Rescue Dog Who Rescued His Humans

Hello, Old Mission!

I’m here today to share the heartwarming story of a remarkable rescue dog named Jay Jay, who has turned out to be a true hero for his humans, Dave and Deb Ott. Adopting Jay Jay from the HAWS Rescue Group in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, two friends found a bundle of love and joy that they never anticipated.

When Deb visited Milwaukee, she felt it was time to adopt a dog. After looking through countless dogs, she spotted Jay Jay at the very last cage. ‘I just knew he was the one,’ she said. Meanwhile, Dave needed a little more convincing. But as we chatted, it was clear that he couldn’t stop petting and smiling at Jay Jay.

Jay Jay’s Journey

Now nearing ten years old, Jay Jay is a Shih Tzu Terrier mix, sporting a honey-colored coat and bright chocolate-chip eyes that melt anyone’s heart. Unlike most smaller dogs, he hardly barks and is a professional napper, often napping blissfully on the couch. However, he loves playing in the snow and is quite fond of chasing balls, although he doesn’t always bring them back!

One of Jay Jay’s favorite spots is the Pyatt Lake Nature Preserve, where he goes hiking at least four times a week with the Otts. His love extends beyond his humans, as he has made peace with the two cats of the household, although he might have chased them a bit upon his arrival.

Jay Jay is exceptionally fond of munching on peeled raw carrots — he devours them whole! His delightful nature has turned the Ott home’s everyday routine into an adventure filled with love and laughter.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Jay Jay is not just a pet; he is a companion that has rescued his humans in ways unimaginable. If you have a pet you’d love to feature in Old Mission Gazette, feel free to reach out to the columnist Paula Kelley. After all, every furry friend has a story worth telling!
