Astros Open New Season with Streaming Exclusivity
For the second consecutive year, Houston Astros fans find themselves adjusting to Major League Baseball’s complex national TV deal, just two games into the season. This Friday, the Astros will host the New York Mets at Daikin Park, and fans will need to tune in to Apple TV+, as the game will not be available on the Space City Home Network, the Astros’ regular TV outlet.
Game Details
The game is set to begin at 7:10 p.m. and marks Apple TV+’s fourth season of streaming select Friday night games. As part of their contract, the Astros are set to appear in two games on Apple TV+ during the first half of the season.
Wayne Randazzo will provide play-by-play commentary, accompanied by analyst Dontrelle Willis and field reporter Heidi Watney.
Subscription Details
To watch the game, an Apple TV+ subscription, priced at $9.99 per month, is required. Interested viewers can also sign up for a one-week free trial, available for new or qualified returning subscribers. It’s noteworthy that for the past three seasons, a paid subscription has been necessary to view these exclusive games. In 2022, however, games were free for anyone with an Apple ID.
Upcoming Matches
The Astros and Mets will meet once again on Saturday in a series finale. This game will air for free on Fox at 6:15 p.m., giving fans another opportunity to catch the action.
