Man Arrested for Suspected Drug Possession During Traffic Stop

A man was arrested in Darke County after deputies discovered suspected methamphetamine and other pills during a routine traffic stop.

Approximately 2:59 a.m. on Friday, Darke County Sheriff’s Deputies pulled over a pickup truck that was reportedly unable to maintain its lane. According to a news release, the deputies engaged a K-9 unit to perform a free air sniff on the vehicle.

The K-9 highlighted the presence of illicit substances, resulting in deputies conducting a search of the truck. During this search, authorities found a substantial amount of suspected methamphetamine along with other various pills.

The arrested individual, identified as 55-year-old Steven Black from New Lebanon, Ohio, is charged with possession of methamphetamine, a second-degree felony, and obstructing official business, a second-degree misdemeanor.

Black has been booked into the Darke County Jail, where he awaits further legal proceedings.
