2025 NFL Pro Bowl Rosters Announced
The NFL unveiled the rosters for the 2025 Pro Bowl Games on Thursday morning, marking an exciting moment for fans. Representing the league’s best talent, players from 28 of the 32 NFL teams have been selected. The Baltimore Ravens topped the list with nine selections, while the Detroit Lions followed closely with seven. Other notable teams included the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles, each with six selections, and the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs, both with five.
Interestingly enough, four teams—Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, and Tennessee Titans—were completely left out of the initial roster. However, it is important to note that replacements may still emerge from these teams.
The Pro Bowl Games will take place in sunny Orlando on February 2, featuring a blend of skills competitions and a flag football game, with coaching directed by the famed Peyton and Eli Manning. This introduction of unique competitions is a fresh twist to the traditional Pro Bowl format.
However, the announcement didn’t come without its controversies. Among the significant omissions was Detroit Lions safety Kerby Joseph, who leads the NFL in interceptions this season. Despite receiving the highest fan votes among free safeties, Joseph did not secure a spot among the three safeties selected for the Pro Bowl. His teammate, Brian Branch, secured a position despite finishing second in fan voting.
Joseph expressed his bewilderment via social media, posting a GIF reflecting his confusion over the selection process. In another notable absence, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was not named to the AFC roster, marking the first time since he became a starter in 2018 that he has been excluded from the Pro Bowl lineup. Additionally, Baker Mayfield of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did not make the cut.
One rookie generating buzz was Brian Thomas Jr. of the Jacksonville Jaguars, who ranks fifth in the NFL with 1,179 receiving yards and has tied for fifth with 10 touchdown receptions. Surprisingly, he was not included in the final roster. Nevertheless, 24 other rookies were honored, including standout performers Brock Bowers of the Raiders and Jared Verse of the Rams. Additionally, Jayden Daniels from the Washington Commanders found a place on the NFC team, making him only the fourth rookie quarterback to achieve such recognition since 1970.
